Publishing: Past, present, future

No time like the present to consider the past and the future…of publishing.

Looking back in time, Turnstone has recently been promoting Publishing In Exile, the Goethe-Institut New York’s exhibit, co-hosted with the Leo Baeck Institute. There’s a great review on More Intelligent Life, just out. The show, including never-seen manuscripts, photos and letters, is curated by Professor Paul North of NYU. It looks at prominent publishers of German authors, who were exiled in the USA during the 1940s, bringing to life how central publishing was – and still is – to preserving identity and active debate in the public sphere. Publishing in Exile runs at the Leo Baeck Institute til June 28.

Looking forward, Turnstone has been invited to talk about the future of publishing to leaders in the book industry later this summer. More words on that to follow.
